Adult Supervision
Never let children handle fireworks unsupervised, including sparklers and pop-pops. Always guide from an arm's length.
Water & Sand Bucket
Keep two large buckets—one filled with water and one with sand—immediately accessible in your open bursting area.
Proper Storage
Store crackers in cool, dry, elevated areas away from electrical points, flammable liquids, kitchen stoves, or direct heat.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO (DO'S)
- Wear Cotton Clothes: Wear well-fitting cotton apparel. Avoid loose silk, polyester, synthetic fabrics, or dangling clothes.
- Burst in Open Spaces: Choose clear playgrounds, open grounds, or wide open terraces away from trees, thatched roofs, or overhead electric wires.
- Use an Agarbatthi (Incense Stick): Light crackers using long incense sticks or sparklers at arm's length rather than matches or lighters.
- Wear Footwear: Always wear closed shoes or firm slippers while lighting ground chakkars or flowerpots to prevent hot debris contact.
- Submerge Used Sparklers: Dip hot burnt metal sparkler wires into water buckets immediately after use to prevent accidental burns.
WHAT YOU MUST AVOID (DON'TS)
- Never Re-light Misfired Crackers: If a firework fails to burst, never approach or blow on it. Pour water over it after waiting at least 15 minutes.
- Never Burst in Metal or Glass Containers: Never place crackers inside bottles, tin cans, or boxes, as flying shrapnel can cause severe injuries.
- Never Hold Burning Fireworks in Hand: Except for safe sparklers held by the wire handle, never light rockets, bombs, or flowerpots in hand.
- Never Carry Crackers in Pockets: Friction or accidental sparks can ignite friction-sensitive crackers.
- Avoid Bursting Near Hospitals & Animals: Be mindful of pets, stray animals, senior citizens, and silence zones.
